Here are some more samples of what I have been working on and developing from my previous ideas post. I have chosen a different typeface to create more flow and relate more to 'loose knit funk' it's free and dun rather than the more stiff structured typefaces I was using before. I personally feel this works so much better I have at this moment sent visuals to the band and waiting for feedback on the new type choice. The band really like the paint splatters saying it really emphasises the genre of the band, here is the email response.Hey Kala,
I really like them. The one thing I would say is that our Trombone player has actually left, so I was wondering whether it'd be possible to adapt the orange/yellowy one with the trombone in, to replace the trombone player for another instrument in the band (Guitar, Bass, Drums or Vocals.) I hope that changing the trombone player won't be too much hassle! I really like this one though as it really puts across the style of the band and it looks so good! This would be great to use as a basis for posters for gigs.
I like the logo because it is clear to read, however maybe if there was some of the paint splatted colourful style artwork (that you used in the orange/yellowy one) behind the logo, it would get our style of music across better in the band logo.
The Sax explosion one is also cool and maybe good as album artwork.
I will forward all the visuals you've sent me to the rest of the band too so that they can see what they think too.
Thanks! :)
Becca
After this response I felt it was important to keep the splatters and the colouring of oranges and yellows as they are happy with this, but felt I needed to develop the typography and composition side of the design, so below are a few different designs using 'Deftone Stylus' downloaded from dafont.com but still incorporating the splatter effect.
