I downloaded some splatter paint brushes from brusheezy.com and started building them up on layers on a photoshop document using different shades and tones of warm colours, oranges, yellows and burnt reds. Although the Mardi Gras colour picker chose the obvious greens and purples but I felt the warmer colours represented the music but I will experiment with those colours and ask the band which they prefer. I have relied on the type used to create that retro feel rather than putting too many elements in that are retro because it will be too much and obvious. The type used is blackhawk downloaded from dafont.com I have just picked this quite quickly just to get a rough idea of what a white type could look on the orangey background the type s almost circus like I'm quite sure I wont be using it for my design. Below I have changed the hugh saturation to a blue combination to get an idea/consideration of other colours which I don't think it works because it doesn't to me resemble a party up-beat vibe it's more watery and placid? Thinking about it now i should of put the brushes on individual layers so i could adjust the colours so that they are not tonal. Monday, 24 October 2011
