Conclusion

The brief was to re-brand a band who are studying in K college, I got paired with Loose-Knit Funk and jazz-funk band so Instantly once given this I researched in old funk albums and jazz albums. The band wanted the idea of an upbeat party vibe inspired by new orleans which is were jazz and jazz funk originated from. I looked into seventies and eighties typography which is when jazz-funk started, I feel using 'Deftone Stylus' which I downloaded form dafont.com this reminded me of old card badges such as ford and old diners, quite 'americanised' which again references to the origin of jazz-funk and new orleans. I positioned it on a slight angle and joined some of lettering together as when researching into seventies retro iconic typography the type is set tightly kerned and leading is tight as well, the letters contain exaggerated serifs and create a wavy almost a hippy look, which is iconic to the seventies era and is well recognised today as seventies and retro. I chose the orange colour scheme as I felt that it was warmer and realted more to the music style rather than using the Mardi Gras style.
